Tales of faith and devotion in Maira Valley

In the Museum of Religious Art in Acceglio one immerses in an ancient world populated with rituality, faith and sacrality.

The museum is situated in a former cult site, the Confraternity of Annunciation, and hosts a rich series of paintings, sculptures, votive panels, goldsmithery, cloth paraments, and various objects of popular devotion of the valley. A few stand outs among them are a medieval miniature of rare beauty representing Saint Margaret and some paintings by the landscapist Matteo Olivero of Acceglio.

It is a journey in the history of the valley’s community. Over the centuries, the customs and practices closely connected to the spiritual sphere of this territory have been handed down from generation to generation.
