Trekking: the ring of Verzuolo

Between nature and history along the trails once travelled by the partisans

Castello di Verzuolo

This brief route leaves from the centre of Verzuolo and follows the trails which the partisans passed along when they came secretly down from the mountain to visit their families.

The trails were also used to escape the check points on the main road and in searching for militias in the built up area.  The walk, which is passable all the year round, allows you to admire two rather fine medieval monuments, in the verdant setting of the most ancient trails linking the original centre of the town to the mountain villages: the imposing Verzuolo Castle and the ancient Parish church of SS. Filippo e Giacomo, whose original core dates back to the year 1000.
