From Costigliole Saluzzo’s 470 meters above sea level and along a rather straight route of approximately 60 km, Varaita Valley reaches an altitude of 2.744 metres on the Col Agnel: this peak at the foot of Monte Viso seems to disappear along the hairpin bends to appear again at high altitude. For many editions, it has been the “Cima Coppi” of the Giro d’Italia and, quite recently, even the Tour de France started passing through here.
Cyclists and bikers who visit the Varaita Valley can challenge themselves on the slopes and relieves that hosted the most important sport-cycling events. To have a break, foodies can regenerate both their body and mind with the local delicacies: the renowned “raviòlas”, the cheeses, the typical cold cuts, chestnuts, wines and herbal liquors.
