The mystery of piròpo crystals
The heart of the Po Valley conceals a scientific treasure of international value: the piròpo, a mineral from the garnet family.
Only in Martiniana Po does the piròpo assume unique characteristics of size and purity, with crystals 95% pure, up to 25 cm in diameter and 20 kg in weight. This is why the Park has decided to tell us about this very special mineral in a museum: to understand what it is, why it is so important for geologists and to give us a better understanding of what the wonderful mountains of our region are made of.
From March to October Sundays: 2.30–6.30 p.m.
