Grana Valley

The Journey of San Magno

Walking through the centuries

Walking along the Journey of San Magno , or Viol de San Manh, involves undertaking a journey into the heart and soul of the Grana Valley and the Occitan mountains.

For centuries, this little trail has been the artery connecting Campomolino to the Sanctuary of San Magno. The inhabitants of the upper valley used it to descend and climb up again whilst the faithful and devotees of San Magno passed along it to reach one of the most important places of worship in the Alps.  Now completely restored and signposted, the path shows us how much the Gran Valley has to offer.  Along this stretch one comes upon established businesses; producers of the precious Castelmagno (cheese), small villages which have now become part of the archaeological heritage of the Alps, hamlets which have been renovated and are now lived in, embedded in a unique natural setting.
